I couldn't be happier with these socks. The foot is a nice, smooth cotton and the leg and cuff are super thick, squishy cotton/poly with a bit of elastic. And they don't shrink when you wash them. I wear a women's 10 WIDE shoe and have big calfs (calves?) and the US 6.5-10 was a perfect fit. They don't have enough elastic to keep them pulled up tight, but these are slouch socks, after all, and are worn to be scrunched down (so they hide my ugly varicose-vein ankles). Once on and scrunched down, they come about 7" up your leg from the bottom of the foot. I did a lot of shopping around and these are the real deal. I just wish they offered free shipping.
