When I purchased these several months ago, the original product description stated that these were compression shorts (I see the description has been updated, so that's good). However, looking at the materials on the tag (cotton and spandex), there was no way they were compression shorts and the Amazon family of purchasers confirmed this. That said, everyone said they were comfortable, so I ordered them anyway. Believe me, I was NOT disappointed!I ordered both a medium and a large at the time, figuring that the large would be the comfy shorts and the medium MAY possibly provide more support during exercise. I literally wanted to live in the size large shorts once I got them on. They were so soft and even flattering, sitting right on the curvature of the hips - not too tight and not too loose. Goldilocks perfect. I loved the graduated colors of green, blue and purple hues, too.Today, I decided to try the medium shorts during my kickboxing session, and honestly, I wasn't disappointed with their performance either. Of course, the entire reason I originally wanted compression shorts was for running and kickboxing to prevent muscle soreness and keep things from moving around, which technically these shorts would not be able to provide. However, for kickboxing, I only really need minimal compression (and more calcium pyruvate!), so my medium pair worked out just fine. I have lost 21lbs in the last couple of months (85lbs to date), but the large compression shorts still fit just fine. The size medium shorts are not too tight, nor are they loose.Again, the description has been updated for these shorts, which is great, and while these are not compression shorts (which honestly do get really hot since they usually contain nylon), they are wonderful shorts. They are constructed well with a nice pocket on the sides that even my old clunky Note 3 fits into. I also like that these go down to the knees. While my legs have certainly slimmed down (why is thigh fat always the last to go?!), I have always been self-conscious about my thighs (and the "muffin knees"), and it is very difficult to find shorts that go all the way to the knee. Most shorts seem to stop about mid-thigh or perhaps a little lower, sort of creating a...well, "muffin" knee. You get my drift.Whether you want a nice pair of shorts to lounge around in, walk around the lake in, for doing housework, gardening, or for low intensity exercise, then these shorts are wonderful. If you need a little bit more support, consider ordering one size down for more intense exercise sessions. (Case in point: I weighed 190lbs and the large was great. I now weigh 169lbs and the medium are perfect for my kickboxing. The size large still feels fabulous at 169lbs. That's how adaptive these shorts are!) I honestly wouldn't recommend these for running unless you are already slim. However, if you are overweight, please do yourself a favor and get some compression shorts. Your body will thank you for "bolting" things down.I can't say enough about these shorts...I was pleasantly surprised and am so glad I took the chance to order them based on the feedback others provided me!!
