I have two other Gaiam mats that are a little thicker. Those have full paint on both sides covering the entire mat, as these 4mm only have the paint on the designs. Three mats were as pictured while two mats had the designs in a very dull color and not the brighter color as the other mats. I ordered 5 of these. I am using them under a putting mat so I don't care, but beware that the design may not look as pictured, which some reviews stated. They do have a smell to them but it was fairly hot today and they sat outside for about an hour. I know that smell will go away. I do wish, however, that I would have ordered the 6mm instead of the 4mm. Think those are covered better on the surface. I would never order the 3mm. Too thin even for my purpose. But they are quality mats. Just hope the smell goes away by tomorrow. Whew. Little stinky and strong enough odor that you feel it on your face. Irritating to the skin. I think the 6mm covered in full paint would stop the gas releasing from the mat. Maybe when they cool down, they will stop gassing.
