I grew up skating and have played a few years of men's league hockey into my late 30's. These skates might be a little tricky to get used to if you aren't confident on your skates. The 125mm wheels are super smooth and fast, but you are higher off the ground also so it requires good balance and stronger ankles. However, the higher boot and buckles help provide extra support if needed. The larger wheels soak up road cracks and rocks really well. I can cruise around the neighborhood holding a steady 20-25mph speed. These seem to have a nice mix of maneuverability and speed, which is why I went with the 3 wheel 125's. They take tight turns at speed and I can stop quickly, even doing side "hockey stops" (sliding stops). The boot fits nice and the combination of the laces, velcro strap and locking ratchet strap up top let me customize the amount of flex I want for my ankles. I think it's a really versatile skate and I plan on enjoying some long hour+ workouts with these. After a week of use, I'm impressed with the mix of price and quality. Just make sure to take a few shorter skates to break in the boots and build up your arch callouses, similar to hockey skates.UPDATE: After a couple of years and a couple hundred miles of use, these are still great. I ended up purchasing a vise grip face clamp to help remove a hot spot that was giving me blisters. Use a standard hair dryer and heat up the carbon shell boot where the hot spot is and use this clamp to mold the boot to your feet. It worked perfectly and made it possible to mold the shell to my feet. Also, be sure to try out the lateral (side to side) adjustment where the metal wheel holder connects to the boot. Experiment and find the right balance of stability and turning mobility. I have a ton of fun on these skates.
